There are two levels of membership in the IVPA:
Full Members:
Requirements:
- Are certified by the IVPA Membership Committee to meet the IVPA’s Principles and Best Practices
- Have been incorporated for at least 2 years
- Have an office in the United States
Benefits:
- Are recognized as a leader in the field of international volunteerism
- Have detailed listings on the IVPA website and search engine, volunteerinternational.org
- Have a special IVPA Logo appearing within your profile on GoAbroad.com
- Are listed in IVPA print and promotional materials
- May participate in the IVPA Mentoring Program
- Have access to the IVPA insurance consultants
- Have access to the IVPA law consultants
- May work on the Brookings Initiative for International Volunteering and Service
- May participate with professional development trainings
- Network and share information with peers
- Receive discounts on industry related products
- Receive the IVPA e-newsletter, IVPA Newswire
- Have unlimited subscriptions to the IVPA Listserv
- Receive support and guidance from knowledgeable IVPA staff
- Receive a reduced admission to the IVPA Annual Conference
- Appoint one staff member to cast votes in the IVPA. This person may also serve on the IVPA Executive or Membership Committees
- May use the IVPA logo on their organization’s website and in printed materials
In addition Full Members can appoint one member of their organization with voting power in IVPA and can serve on Executive and Membership Committees.
Associate Members:
- Have been incorporated for less than 2 years
- Have an office in the United States
How is Associate Membership different than Full Membership?
Associate Members can:
- Join the IVPA mentoring program
- Participate with regional and teleconference meetings and trainings
- Receive and contribute to the IVPA newsletter
- Receive and contribute to the IVPA listserv
- Access IVPA staff for support and troubleshooting
- Access IVPA insurance consultant and lawyer
- Attend the IVPA Annual Conference at the discounted rate
Associate Members are UNABLE to:
- Have voting power in IVPA
- Serve on the Executive or Membership Committee
- Be listed on the IVPA website, brochure, and other printed materials
- Use the IVPA logo on their organization’s website or in any printed materials
